GREEN Patch: monitor energy savings

    3. This patch is a MIMICView run-time patch which allows to calculate and monitor approximate energy savings by running MIMIC agents. Besides showing energy savings, this patch is meant to highlight run-time extensibility of the MIMICView Graphical User Interface. You can further customize the patch to add any functionality you like.

    4. Once the update is installed, when you restart MIMICView it will have a new menu called Energy.

    Once you run agents, the patch will keep a running tally of energy savings for all running agents. The total is displayed on the status line.

    The Energy menu allows you to

    • Start and stop the updates

    • Configure the average cost per KWH. Click on the Help button to get the table of KWH rates across the country.

    • Savings Calculator is a calculator to show energy savings of your virtual lab over the equivalent physical lab. This calculator quantifies ROI of running MIMIC in terms of energy savings alone.
